To drink or not...

“I am getting late for the class and am rushing with full speed. When I reach, I see a huge table in front of the classroom with assorted drinks (ahem…all alcoholic). A.S., our acad-sec, whatever that means, is standing at the door, barring my entry. He says I can’t go in unless I drink. The teetotaler in me refuses to do so. He calls for SKD, and they hold me and start pouring the drinks in my mouth”.
At this time, I wake up, all sweating and breathless.
So is drinking that big a nightmare for me? Probably not. The dream, as all dreams are, was a bit exaggerated. I am not averse to drinking. The point is that I don’t feel the need to start. Sadly, most parties are filled with people who are either drinking or dancing.
I can’t dance. Period.
So, to be a social fit, should I start drinking? Well, not really. I am content standing in a corner, sipping cola, watching people lose control and get drunk.
I will hate to lose control of myself. Who knows what secrets can come out!
Hmmm…a true spy never drinks!

Useless! You bet I am !

A.N. calls me the most 'useless' person around. I don't deny this fact vehemently because there's a ring of truth in it. Right from infancy when I could not decide between dolls or balls to class 12 -- commerce or science to graduation -- MBA or not MBA to in MBA -- marketing or finance... I simply can't make up my mind! If this is not uselessness, then what is! In fact, there is still a greater level of uselessness than this...I don't feel bad about the fact that I am useless!
In fact, the other day A.N. told me he feels bad about the fact that I don't feel bad enough to give him sadistic pleasures from my misfortunes :)

PS: I have finally got summer placed at HDFC Bank( I guess the last one to get placed after much efforts from institute) for a finance project. I have finally made up my mind to go for a Marketing major! Hah! Can anyone be more useless than me?

For want of...

A random busy Saturday at college canteen( the evening snack menu on Saturdays is spring rolls– a highly coveted food product for those deprived of ‘good’ food).
Though oil oozes from it, we don’t mind as long as we are able to catch hold of it.
On this particular Saturday, I couldn’t.
Here is the event.

For want of the snacks the plate was lost.
For want of the plate the roll was lost.
For want of the roll the sauce was lost.
For want of the sauce the spoon was lost.
For want of the spoon the roll was lost.
For want of the snacks thirty minutes were lost.

Not to talk about the lost tea.
And ‘not-lost’ appetite.

Happy eating!

Random Muse-1:Riot of colors -- holi on campus

Doors were banged.
Fears were hanged.
By colored hands.

Abeer and gulal.
Strewn on pals.
Guys and gals.

The bath in the mud.
Clothes stained with suds.
Stripping-off shirts.

The taste of bhang.
Everyone in trance.
That stupid dance.

Taps running pink.
The joy sinks in.
Not a drop to drink.

The day is over.
The memories will remain green.
Forever.

"zindagii yuu.N hu_ii basar tanhaa
qaafilaa saath aur safar tanhaa"
-- Gulzar
(My life is spent in such a way that even when I am in a crowd, I am alone)
Don't know why but these two lines always remind me of Mahatma Gandhi...
And in a way they apply to all of us at some point in time or other

The blame game

R.P. -- how many times have you blamed yourself when things have gone wrong?

I – oh come on! Why should I blame myself? Aren’t there other people around? Have you never played the blame game?

R.P.—the blame game? What is that?

I—well dumbo here are the rules

1. When a thing goes wrong there’s always someone else who is responsible for it
2. That someone may try to hide and make you think that you might be guilty
3. Never fall into this trap
4. You never make mistakes.
5. There is always someone else

R.P. – wow!

I – here I have also identified few ‘someone else’s’ who are mostly responsible for many things that go wrong—

Things that go wrong:--
1) You got bad grades
2) You find roads dirty
3) Corruption
4) Too much heat/cold
5) Too many people around

Who is to be blamed: --
1) Teachers, Indian education system, etc.
2) Municipal Corporation, Indian govt.
3) Politicians
4) The vagaries of nature
5) Other people

Never blame: --
1) Your lack of hard work
2) Your throwing candy wrappers on street
3) Your not voting in the last elections
4) Yours not getting your car checked for pollution
5) Your having 3 of your own

R.P. – you are too good!
I – you have still much to learn. But thanks for the compliment.
